Even though both of these poems are about the night, "We Grow Accustomed to the Dark" by Emily Dickenson talks about hope and "Acquainted with the Night" by Robert Frost talks about the light and the dark. The light to me means life and the dark means death.
"We Grow Accustomed to the Dark" by Emily Dickenson talks about hope and it teaches people a lesson by not going somewhere. They both talk about the darkest hour but the poem from Emily Dickenson talks about hope and getting used to the dark. The line when 'Not a moon disclose a sign -- or star -- come out -- within." This line makes me think that she is struggling with the dark, and looking for light with hope.
The poem "Acquainted with the night" by Robert Frost talks about life in the night. The light is a symbol for life. also the line "I have passed by the watchman on his beat, and dropped my eyes unwilling to explain." This line makes me feel that the poems are very different but also similar simultaneously.
All in all, the two poems are both about the darkness and the night, but they are still different. Robert Frost has more of a darker tone and Emily Dickenson's poem is about hope and getting used to the dark.
