Even though both of these poems "My Papa's Waltz" by Theodore Roethke and "Those Winter Sunday's" by Robert Hayden, are both about fathers. They are very different. The relationships between the speakers and the fathers are both very different.

The poem "My Papa's Waltz" by Theodore Roethke makes me think of this as a sad. This poem makes me think this because of the stanza "We romped until the pans slid off the kitchen shelf; my mothers countenance could not unfrown itself" This made me think that the father was really mad and he slid all of the pans off the kitchen shelf. Also the1st stanza "The whiskey on your breath, could make a small boy dizzy; but I hung on like death: such waltzing was not easy." this makes me think that the father had too much whiskey, and his breath made the boy dizzy and the dad was going crazy. This is why this is a sad poem.

In the poem "Those Winter Sundays" by Robert Hayden made me think of a hard working father. In the 1st stanza "Sundays to my father got up early, and put his clothes on the blue black cold. This makes me think that the father wakes up really to do work for his family on a Sunday when people usually rest but he doesn't. The kid probably doesn't even know hes doing the work for the family. This is why the poem is full of hard working.

All in all, Even though both of these poems are about fathers, the speakers had the poems in different views. They can still be different.
