One of my favorite books is called Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling. He describes twelve different short stories about all sorts of animals. All the stories are about how certain animal got its shape or looks. For example one of his stories called How the Whale got his Throat is about a whale that eats everything he sees till there are no more fish left in the sea except a tiny little one, and then he finds a shipwrecked man and eats him. When the man was stuck in his stomach he danced around so much that the whale spit him out but before that the man stuck his raft into whale's throat and that's where whale's baleen came from. Another is about how a camel got his hump and another about how the leopard got his spots.
I really like how Kipling writes. Its like old fashioned writing and he uses a lot of different words that always rhyme to describe something for example the shipwrecked man "stumped and he jumped and he danced and he pranced and he banged and he clanged and he hit and he bit and he leaped and he creeped and he prowled and he howled and he hopped and he dropped" in the whale's stomach. And he ends every story with a poem about that animal.
